Casting with Tenkara Rod

The most fundamental of fly casting is a tight loop. There is no better rod for casters to practice and casting muscle memory building than tenkara rod. It is a great rod for beginner to learn short stroke casting.
I spend few hours today at the Oakland Casting Pond to test on a new line and a rod which I am developing to help beginner caster or fly fishers who love to cast a tight loop. Without line management and changing line length, casters can easily focus on their casting stroke.
Fishers can fish with the rod too. 😉

I thought you were supposed to back cast, stop at 12 o’clock position, hold for about 2 seconds or until your line straightens out and loads the rod, then forward cast, stop at the 10 o’clock position and lay the line out flat.
