Still in 2024 a fantastic OLED!👌I'm was thinking to upgrade from a 77 inch AG9 to a 83 inch LG G4, but it's hard to say good by to my great AG9 🤔

Vincent, stop screwing around. Actually, it's your great sense of humor that brings levity to your reviews.

Well, i spent a week making my decision about which OLED TV to buy. I have watched and read a lot. I'll put some info here, hope it will help somebody. My main question was which is better - sony (ag9/af9) or lg c9, here what i have find out:
1) Sony has the best upscaling
2) Sony has the best motion processing
3) Sony has the most detailed picture
4) Sony has the most accurate picture(i mean colors)
5) Sony has better sound
6) Sony has better self preserving mechanizms(Sony analyses current picture and if it thinks, that some pixels are too brigth for a long time - it auto dimms it, which protects your TV from permanent burn-in, LG has no such auto function).
7) Sony has the best OLED panels. I'll explain - all OLED panels are produced by LG, Sony buys them from LG. So Sony picks only the best ones, while LG sells just all of them.

It is often said, that LG is better because it is brighter and has hdmi 2.1, i would like to clarify it:
1) Brighter doesn't mean better. As i comapred LG and sony picture, i find out, that LG tends to oversaturate colors by brightening them up, which leads to micro-halo effects, which decreases color/details accuracy. So brighter DOESN'T mean better. However, for HDR it actually adds more possibilities with simultenous decreasing of color accuracy
2) At this point of time(10-2019), there is absolutely NO gain in HDMI 2.1. It may be important only for next gen consoles, which are at least a year ahead AND chances that the next gen consoles can produce >60FPS at 4k(main point of hdmi 2.1) are next to nothing. I mean existing consoles struggle to maintain 30 FPS at FULL HD, do you really believe that the next gen suddenly rocket launch to 100 FPS at 2160p? It can be true only for not demanding games(old ones, indies, platformers), AAA titles would be 60 FPS at 4k in the best scenario. You can ask - how do i know? Well, current Nvidia the best monstorsity 2080Ti struggles to maintain 60 FPS at most of fresh AAA titles and there is no chance, that next gen consoles will be at least close to 2080Ti(comon, it costs three times more, than whole PS5. There is no such miracles in this world).
However, there is one good thing in HDMI 2.1, that can be useful for better sound - eARC, but it is supported by Sony also.

There is also interesting info:
In USA AG9 is recognised as the BEST OLED TV. However, in UK the same is said about C9. Personally, i tend to believe USA, because they know about filming a bit more, than UK.

So which are the strongest sides of LG C9?
1) Lesser input lag. Yeah, for games it will be better. Not like ground breaking experience, but definetly better. If you play a lot on consoles and don't really care about best motion and movie experience, than C9 will be better for you
2) WebOS tends to be more user friendly and understandable
3) The strongest side of C9 - price. Yeah, in my country(Poland) there is 850$ price difference between Sony AG9 and LG C9. So by $ LG wins hands down

I want to clarify something: I am not Sony fan boy. It has no meaning for me which brand to buy. It is only quality that i am interesting in. I don't say, that C9 sucks, it is really good OLED TV and best value both hands down. I just aggregate facts and facts choose Sony, so am i.

Summ:
If you want the best pictures for movie and you are not limited by $ - go Sony. There is no question in it. But if you want the best value for money and more concerned about games - go LG. However, for games i would rather suggest Samsung QLED. It will be definetely better for gamers.

You do not need my approbation, my good man, but excellent job, all regards; you helped determine my purchase decision immensely. I have ordered this superb set and it's on its way to me. Thank you very much.

So far in 2019 I haven't seen a notable upgrade in term of picture quality to previous years. My preferred overall 2019 model remains Panasonic GZ2000, but I guess I will wait for 2020 or even 2021 model that include an additional (waw) factor to settle with for few good years (they are not cheap lol).

I own the X900E which is a 2 year old mid tier TV and I can fully endorse the Sony brand. Their video processing makes even 30 year old movies look pristine. The update to Android 8.0 will make this television even more enjoyable. Thanks Sony.

Thanks Vincent for the video and your professional opinion . Someday people will wake up and realize that overly bright tv isnt the way to go for a great accurate picture . If u say it often enough unless thats what u want.
Measurement of peak brightness means nothing when u eyes see it. OLED get plenty bright when and where it matters.
I love my Lg c9. but that tv will someday be my gaming tv and a Sony most likely will be my movie tv cause of their upconversion n motion. Lg motion isnt as good but its ok for the most part. I regret not waiting for Sony oled to some degree.
