Can Emerald Fennell’s latest film be simply characterized as either shocking or predictable? Is there really more to it than the feverish lust we gleam from the story? The latter ideation is certainly more interesting.

The film’s more shocking moments remain in casual conversation online but these jaw droppers clearly weren’t the intentional purpose behind the piece. To answer the propositional nature of Saltburn laid very early on in this feature: it is, indeed, quite predictable and startling. But there’s an abundance of material to ponder.

Yes, I meant Richard E. Grant and not Hugh. Sue me.

Great commentary on a very interesting, controversial film. So many themes and points of view. I have seen this movie twice once at the cinema and then on Prime and I am still trying to get my head around it. The story was all over the place. Don't know that I loved it. Didn't envy the rich people they were morally bankrupt. The parents were particularly superficial and Richard E. Grant was just a token character with nothing much to say. How did he become so wealthy. No juicy rich stories. Flix was the most likeable and real.

Another great analysis of this multi -layered movie . So far I have seen it 3 xs and I am still fascinated by the characters . perfect performances by all.

I'd forgotten how much I hated that scene, with Felix sitting there waiting for a miracle after he punctured his tire. Who does that? Oh no, my tire is punctured, I can't go on. I guess I better sit here and wait for divine intervention.

oliver might be Felix's toy, as Venetia claims, but he's like a cat bringing them home for the family. What happened to last years toy?

Great visuals and soundtracks (yes I was 17 in 2006 the birthday party throws clear "Romeo+Juliet ball scene"/Gossip Girl inspirations), interesting themes (class war and vanity of the wealthy) but the movie missed the point (eat the rich and middle class people being disposable, stalkers, liars or vampires going after the richs' money). This is a White wealthy perspective, and depth is missing (why did Felix like Oliver? Did he buy his show or was just too blasé like Venitia? Farleight is both in and a dependent and disposable token, how his perspective could have been explored deeper?). The serial killer ending seems just so weird and out of place.
