10 Highest Paid College Coaches 2023

It is essential to note that coaching comes with a lot of passion and responsibility, and not just a fat paycheque. While some of the key players on the list are very familiar faces from D1 college football, there are other names on the list that will be shockers.
According to information from USA Today, some college coaches make a lot of money. In this video, we will be looking at the top ten highest-paid college coaches from the least to the highest.

At number ten is Dan Mullen who landed his contract with Florida in 2018. Mullen is a great coach with an excellent track record with the Gators after transforming the 4-7 team to a 21-5 team in two seasons. Mullen was a good replacement for Jim McElwain who also had great two seasons but transferred to Central Michigan. Mullen earns six million seventy thousand dollars.

Slightly above the pay line with a salary of six million, three hundred and eighty-four thousand, four hundred and sixty-two dollars is Lincoln Riley of Oklahoma. Riley is expected to make his next major move to the NFL and when he does, he will be leaving a huge sum of $6,384,462 at Oklahoma. Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray that were successfully enlisted in the NFL in the first two rounds were all products of Lincoln Riley from the year 2017 to 2018. In 2017, Mayfield became the top pick in his enlistment, likewise Murray in 2018. Currently, Spencer Rattler who is expected to be in the top-two pick in the year 2022 NFL enlistment is also a product of the Lincoln Riley.

On number eight is Jeff Brohm of Purdue who earns a salary of six million six hundred thousand dollars. Brohm signed a seven-year contract extension with Purdue in West Lafayette. Brohm had a successful run two years before his contract extension, leading Purdue to a 13-13 top score and two bowl games. When we talk of college coaches with remarkable achievements, Brohm is one coach to admire.

Number seven on the list of the top ten highest-paid college coaches is Tom Herman. He made a whopping sum of six million, seven hundred and fifty thousand in 2019. While Tom Herman is worth much more than what he earns as a college coach, being on the list of the top ten highest-paid college coaches is a remarkable feat. It is almost impossible to overlook Herman with his yearly preseason AP poll rank.

Guz Malzahn of Auburn is number six on the list with a six million, eight hundred thousand dollars salary. Guz has been a massive competitor and a big name in the game since the beginning of his Auburn contract, which also includes an entitlement of a yearly raise of one hundred thousand dollars. If all things go as planned, Guz is set to earn a salary of 7.3 million dollars in the 2024 session. His contract extension also includes a huge buyout sum, which ensures that both parties enjoy the benefits of the contract.

William Christopher "Dabo" Swinney (born November 20, 1969) is an American football coach, currently serving as the head coach at Clemson University.

Swinney took over midway through the 2008 season, following the resignation of Tommy Bowden.

Swinney has led them to national championships in 2016 and 2018, and trails only Frank Howard for the most wins by a head coach in Clemson history.

On September 8, 2022, Swinney signed a new contract extension that keeps him the head coach of the Clemson Tigers through the 2031 football season - and pays him $115 million over the duration of the contract.

This makes him the second-highest paid college football coach, behind only Nick Saban.
