Minelab Manticore: Still plenty deep at lower sensitivity levels.

Just a short clip demonstrating how maxing out the sensitivity isn't necessary to detect deeper coins. Running at lower levels may help with erratic ID, EMI, and excessive falsing. In this clip, I'm using All Terrain High Conductor in the Depth audio theme.

Thanks for the review. Best wishes to you from over the water.

I know you’re aware of this Rattlehead, but for others that may not know, lowering sensitivity will also help better separate(or even expose) a deep, non-ferrous target at sites with iron in the ground (turning off your bright lights in the fog to better see in front of you analogy holds true with lower sens in iron).

Thank you for pointing this out. In my experiments it is higher recovery speed that sacrifices the most depth— not lowering sensitivity. Keep ‘em coming and happy hunting🙏🏼🤗

People running their machine at 30+ sensitivity really was just showing how paranoid some people were that they might miss something.

I got my Manticore last week and have had 5 hunts with it. I'm with you on sensitivity around 23/24. The machine works great so far! I've dug 7 silver coins in places that were pounded. Three of them had junk with them. Two IHPs dug had square nails with them, also. There is a learning curve but after a number of hours I think I'll be fine in discerning good/bad targets. HH :)

XP Deus 2 will do that too. Surprisingly low Sens can still hit deep targets. Nice Vid

It's a mental thing for me, I'm used to running my other machines close to max sensitivity, I have gotten down to 26 - 27, lol

Just read your write up about your 50 hour time on the machine. It’s about time someone gave a review on this that actually put in time to learn it. I’m sure you are still learning it. I had my ctx for almost 9 years and I’m pretty proficient with it and I still learn something each year with it. I just got this machine today and am hating the fact I have to re learn all over again and not being sure if I’m missing anything by not knowing the machine. I don’t hunt by numbers. It’s all sound for me. Wide open screen. Now my question is there a tone difference on deep targets vs deeper targets. ?? Some say with the nox there isn’t any. That’s the only thing I would fear about the manticore.

Dwayne, what are your initial impressions of the Manticore. Does it out perform the Deus II? I don't know if I should invest in it or not.

I saw a guy lower it to like 14 still hitting a deep target should have mine this week sounds like my D2 in pitch lol

This begs the question, why high 90's for a single one cent?

I just wonder how many coins I have walked over because I have never found coins deeper than 6 inches 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Interesting. Target IDs are definitely not as good as ctx/etrac imho.

With that iron limits device can’t unmasking targets next to iron…

Good demonstration of the Sensitivity setting and it's affect on falsing!
Tks!

So why have the sensitivity range 0/35 if the most anyone can use is 22/24 may as well have been as the equinox 800 at 25, its marketing bullshit make everyone think it can go all the way to 35 that way they sell more. As for the 50% extra power again bullshit, its only going in reality an inch deeper on coin size targets..

I’ll confirm that 1, 000% with the Explorer and CTX, after a couple of hours of extensive testing for this very purpose. This is why I never went below 18 because once I started going to 17, 16 on the CTX the 10” dime went away…in my soil with the 11” coil. 18-22 on the CTX was the sweet spot for me. With the horror I deal with running high sensitivity makes no sense, it just exacerbates the iron falsing and makes the audio unintelligible. It just depends where you are, but higher and higher sensitivity simply lets smaller and smaller responses be heard. You sure have some enviable soil down there…🥹
