Alder Lake was incredible on the desktop, but does it make sense on mobile? Yes.

Can I suggest that when showing graphs, when it is 'lower is better' one colour is used for the axis and 'higher is better' is another colour? I would find it easier to quickly look at the graph and interpret the data that way!

Best time of the year: Alex reviewing laptops. Can already hear Crab Rave playing.

It depends on the height Linus drops them from. Worst case, it's too high and it would depend on aerodynamics and density to calculate terminal velocity.

I hope AMD continues to bring it, so we can continue to reap the benefits.

This is getting interesting when we talk about portable workhorses. 2022 is looking good

The one good thing about CPU performance staying stagnant in the 2010’s is my 11 year old laptop can still do basic modern computing without too much headache. That could’ve never been said about an 11 year old computer in 2011.
With that said, it’s about time Intel got off their ass.

For people who still don't understand why it has 20 threads even though it has 14 cores total,
it's because performance cores have hyper-threading, while efficiency cores don't, if you sum it up: 12 threads + 8 threads = 20 threads.

Their processors having the same name is most likely an oversight on intel's website, the 9W version was indeed called the i7 1260u in earlier press materials

Improving performance in laptops is great, nooo doubt about that. But to answer the question at 0:32, I'm gonna sidestep completely from the performance question and say that it depends on whether or not Sensel trackpads are going to be in laptops in 2022. PC trackpads continue to be the black eye at every price point and I would love to see LTT revisit their Sensel vid from a year ago to see how far off PC laptops are from this reality.

Knowing GPUs are difficult to come by. AMD made a good decision on putting more focus on their APUs. I'm also happy that Intel is finally joining the game again. All it took was getting flatout embarrassed by a company with an R&D department that is an order of magnitude smaller

As a guy with a laptop, I hope they can be fast enough to compete with modern desktops, especially in the GPU shortage, which makes building a desktop harder :D

Now, the problem i have with manufacturers is that you most likely will never see a i5 paired with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD on premium laptops. they will force you to buy i7 for $300ish extra. Apart from that i5 with 4P and 8E sounds fantastic for a laptop.

i was already shocked as the ryzen 4000 mobile cpu´s came out and i tested one on cinebench, and after that they throw out better stuff all the time
thank you amd to motivate intel to make finally better products instead of 1% performance increase every year

The P-core/E-core proposition is extremely interesting to me. The P/E combinations from the current available '10 core tile' locations (1P=4E) could be mixed and matched to create some extremely interesting SKUs. Although the Desktop flagship 8 P-core/8 E-core is interesting in it's allocation of the 10 core tile locations (8+2), I want to see something like a 6 P-core/16 E-core (6+4) or even a 4 P-core/24 E-core (4+6) CPU come out that is aimed at Desktop Creators that don't necessarily need a full blown Workstation setup.
