Thank you, I've never disabled anything on my windows 8 before and I was trying to see if it would fix the issue since my phone works but my computer keeps acting like I don't have internet despite showing I do.

i disabled the adapter icon (whatever was NOT the ethernet cable) and the adapter icon DISAPPEARS. how do i get it back ???
