RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to figure out who committed the crime, with what weapon, and in what location. Lay out the board and place all 6 tokens on their matching-colored spaces, even if there aren’t 6 players playing. Place all the weapons in separate random rooms. Shuffle the red cornered clue cards and place them facedown on the table. Separate the character, weapon, and room cards and shuffle each deck separately, pulling out 1 random card from each and placing it inside the envelope without anyone seeing. Place the envelope in the middle of the board. Shuffle the remaining character, weapon, and room cards together then deal out all those cards to all the players. Some players may receive more cards than others. Players look at their own cards but keep them hidden from others. Give each player 1 notes sheet and a pencil.

Players are allowed and encouraged to mark off corresponding characters, weapons, and rooms for the cards they have and cards that are revealed to them, as well as any other notes they want, as the game progresses. Pick a player to go first then play proceeds clockwise.

On your turn roll the dice then move your character token up to that many spaces orthogonally on the board, you may not move diagonally. The magnifying glass counts as number 1. You are not allowed to move onto the same space twice in a single turn or onto or through a space already occupied by another player token.

You may enter a room on your turn, but do not have to roll the exact number, but you must enter through an unblocked doorway. Multiple player tokens can share a room. If you start your turn already in a room, then you may choose to not move or, if that room has a secret passage, you can travel to the opposite corner of the board instead of rolling. When leaving a room you may exit through any of its doors, not just the one you entered in.

If you roll a magnifying glass icon, then draw 1 clue card, read it aloud and do what it says, then return it to the bottom of the deck. If you roll two icons, then you only draw 1 card. If a card from a player’s hand is revealed, they place that revealed card back into their hand afterwards.

If you reach a room, or start your turn in a room, then you may make a suggestion for who did it, with what, in the room you are in. for example, you could say: “I suggest miss scarlet, with the rope, in the library.” Now, move the character token and weapon to that room. Then the player to your left must secretly shows you one card from their hand that matches any one of the items in your suggestion if they have one. If they do, then after revealing it your turn ends. If they don’t, then the next player clockwise from them must reveal a card if they can. Continue around the players until one player shows you a card, then your turn ends and no more cards are shown. If no player shows you a card by the time it gets back to you, then you do nothing and your turn ends.

You are allowed to make one accusation per game. You may only do this on your turn, but you are allowed to do this right after making a suggestion. To make an accusation, you must be in a room, but it doesn’t need to be THE room you are accusing. State the character, weapon, and location you are accusing to the group, then secretly look into the envelope. If you are correct, reveal the cards and the game ends and you win. If you are incorrect, then you lose. Put the cards back without revealing them and the game continues. You aren’t eliminated, since you must still reveal cards from your hand when asked, but all your future turns are skipped.

If everyone accuses incorrectly, then the game ends and everyone loses.

The old version I own used only one die, and always gave Miss Scarlett the first turn. Now any player can start. Plus, we have those extra clue cards you draw with the magnifying glass; the old version didn't have those.

1:06 originally, Miss Scarlet goes first.

I've always played a modified version in which every player is a detective, and the figurines are only used for signaling your accusation. The magnifying glass cards and the dices go unused. It's easier to explain (and easier to get people playing) but I think you lose some of the "playability" that way. Thanks for the video!

Now that I catch a fresh video, you know what would be cool aside of the "how to play" and "how to set up" videos?

A mini "How to win" series, where you explain basic strategies for success in popular games and explain solved games

Some people think it was Colonel Mustard, when it was obviously Professor Plum all along!

Only confusing point is this

Accusations can only be made on your turn (3:15) and you can make one if you made a suggestion
BUT
Making a suggestion ends your turn ( 3:00 ) even if your suggestion cannot be disproven ( 3:10 )
If your turn ends it is no longer your turn and therefore you cannot make an accusation since they can only be made on your turn

A better way to have worded that part would have been that if nobody can disprove your suggestion, your turn ends UNLESS you are making it in to an accusation.

Can someone please help me I have a few questions..
• what is the significant of placing the weapons to random rooms?
• what will happen to the character token & weapon after you put them inside that room as what shown in 02:38? Will it be back on the place where it belong the last time or the player using that character will continue playing on that room?

Do I understand correctly that I can make a guess after reaching a room and then make another guess in the same room on my next turn (in case no one moved my character somewhere else in between my turns)? In some another video about the older version of the game I've heard that you can make only one guess after entering the room – if you want to make another guess in the same room, you have to leave it and then reenter. I wonder if this is true for this 2024 version?

Are Clue Conspiracy rules the same as the standard one?

Please help! If I roll a magnifying glass and let's say number 5. This makes total of 6. Do I do this movements and what's coming next (accusation), or I should only draw a red card?

I always argued that rolling to move was the dumbest part of this game. The fun bit is the deductive reasoning of trying to figure out whodunnit.

But with the addition of a deck of cards (as well as a second die) there might be enough variety to warrant the game being played by the book, with one exception: moving the playing pieces directly to the room used for the suggestion. All that does is screw over the other player for attempting to trek to their own room for their own suggestion and is part of the reason why I hate the roll to move system to begin with.

So, the board isnt necesary and you can play with only the cards
