The take-away for the "You Can Rest" conversation series are adorable hand-painted taper candles as a reminder that when we come to Jesus for rest and learn from Him, He will give us peace and make our light shine before others. (Matt. 5:16) In this tutorial, we show you how to paint simple flowers using acrylic paints and a paintbrush.

The needed materials for this craft are:
• Acrylic paints and small brushes
• Taper Candles
• Taper Candle holders
• Paper plates or art paper for paint practice
• Paper towels
• Clean, protected workspace

Michaels and other places like Hobby Lobby carry taper candles in a variety of colors at reasonable prices. If you prefer, you can substitute paint pens for brushes and acrylic paints. We were also able to find taper candles and holders at Dollar Tree.

If you want to mix things up, you can search your local thrift store for taper candle holders or invite each girl to bring their own candle holder. Since you will be using paint, be sure to consider your workspace. You might want to put down some rolled paper or newspaper.

Paper plates work great for practicing with the paint before painting on candles.

You can use a moist paper towel for easily wiping away mistakes. Use a dry paper towel to wipe the surface completely dry after using a moist paper towel
