A friend of mine literally got a job because his CV was written in Markdown. Like, fr. His boss told him that.

Note for the numbered lists, the first number is what the list will start with (ie if the first number is 5 itll list from 5) but all other numbers are ignored

Useful. You can also use - instead of * for bullet point lists.

When I learned markdown for my GitHub repo, I just opened someone else's raw README and copied what they did. Super straightforward.

I learned Markdown just from posting and commenting on Reddit.

If only the markdown documentation was as useful as this video. Why does nobody invest time in documentation? Then we wouldn't have to rely on videos.

If you want a line break rather than a new paragraph, end the previous line with two spaces.

Also, in case anyone didn't know, part of the rationale is that unparsed Markdown is still quite readable as plain text - more so than HTML, for example.

Reasonable to explain markdown to an audience that presumably knows HTML

you can learn markdown in 60 seconds but you'll forget the link/image syntax for years to come

I love markless, its an extension that renders your markdown inline so you're not looking at 2 windows

well, yeah, these things are simple. but md becomes trickier when you’re trying to do more complex things, such as nested lists

Who's the genius that decided underscores would be for italics rather than underlining?

I learned this everything once I started using obsidian and logseq

I thought I was going to have something critical to say about this, but it's actually very nice.
