Winter is loosening its grip on the mountains of North America. But that doesn’t mean life here is getting any easier. As the thaw begins and rivers start to swell with raging runoff, new opportunities open up for the mountain men to stockpile supplies, grow their own food and fortify their homesteads. But this spring… They’re digging deep like never before. The mountain men and their families are masters of independence and living off the land. But even they are preparing for a changing world- one where the ultimate test may be who can brace for the worst in America’s wilderness.

I think it’s funny how Tom is in his 70s with heart issues and is still more physical active than most young people today.

I trap problem Beaver here in north Florida. I get a fee per beaver and get to keep the animal as well. Which is like getting paid to catch my food.
No one around here can ever clean out the colony, but the client wants them ALL gone. I can usually get them all in 7 to 10 days. But you have to be good with snares, footholds and body grips to do that. Beaver are smart and become trap shy to a trap set quickly. So you got to know when to change your strategy quickly so you don't lose momentum.

Yes, beaver can be savage. Brings a man to his knees and makes him beg for buttermilk.

A man may as well do what he loves and risk dying of a heart attack than just sit around and try to take it easy trying to stay healthy.
