A Day In The Life Of A Dentist

I've had lots of requests for "a day in the life of a dentist video" and since I'm not a dentist (I'm a dental hygienist) ...I found an awesome dentist friend to show us his day in the life! I hope you all enjoy this video, whether you are a dentist, dental student, or simply considering a career in the dental field. And, for all you dental hygienists out there - you'll enjoy too, because don't forget that our hygiene exams are a big part of the dentist's day! Lastly, if you're a patient - it will be fun to see some behind-the-scenes action in a dental office!

All of your videos make me so excited to be applying to dental school next year! I work at a couple of dental clinics and I often watch your videos to learn more about what's being done in the office or when I'm curious about ways I can do things better!

I worked with a dentist who was early and does everything this dentist does I.e lab work is back, paper work, communicating with other members of staff however the other members of staff (nurses and receptionist) made out she was annoying because they had no aspirations or common sense to realise what excellent customer service is! Long story short the dentist left and definitely got a better place to work. But it’s really nice to see dentists like this. It’s so admirable how hard they work.

Wow he is a Rock Star DDS because he is willing to do so much! I have been an assistant for 18 years now and most new DDS out of school now do not place topical, does not scan patients with cerec or itero, does not do clinical notes and do not help with lab cases, do not place ruber dams or submit electronic claims. New DDS do not know the importance of doing these tasks to help the work flow. Especially when the schedule is crazy packed and he needs to be left on his own to start a procedure without the assistant because she is turning the room other op over or finishing up on previous pt. Man I wish I worked for this DDS!!!! He is a true teammate in this field and would make the day run faster and smoother. 4 hands are better than 2!!!

One more year and I am there so exciting... already love all my patients at the university clinic I feel they are part of my life now and cant wait to start to see more patients and be useful to them and help them to maintain their oral health and yes their general health.

I'm 15, my whole life whenever I got asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I'd say a dentist because my parents told me it's good and all that, but mostly because the dentist I met once as a kid was really nice to me 🙂. So now that I'm older and actually consider future careers, I'm checking out what dentistry is all about and the high school courses I need to take for it, to know if it's for me or not.

I’m currently in school to become a CDA. When I am done with dental assisting school I would like to become an RDH.
