The Seiko alpinist is my daily go to. Just got the special edition gmt few months back and I wear it more than even my grand seikos. Love it.

Murph is my daily. Same case as regular Khaki Field, so I bought a Hamilton bracelet for it. Looks so good!

"Don't get lost in the woods folks." - Teddy. Best advice I've heard in a long time.

I bought the Murph 38 roughly 4 months ago and I barely took it off since. Lovely piece for my taste!

Felt like Seiko was screaming for attention while Murph was so subtle.

If you’re not into this style, please for the love of god don’t just buy because Teddy said they’re the best. Get what YOU like.

Seiko Alpinist all day. The way it plays with the sun is incredible, the videos or pictures won't do it justice. I bought this watch a while back and although I've purchased many other watches in between nothing touches the admiration i have for the Alpinist. I put it on a Uncle Straps jubilee bracelet and its my goto everytime.

a year into my ownership of the Murph, other watches have come and go, several other brands/watch style considered, from $200 to $5000. The Murph is still an undisputed top 3 for me. Interstellar being my favorite movie and just the beauty in the execution, it's just so much better than the sum of it's parts. Such a phenomenal watch.

This is the exact dilemma I had years ago. Went with Alpinist but wish I got the Murph. Thought the Alpinist was more interesting, but Seiko QC issues and Interstellar is one of me and my wife’s favorite movies.

Picked up the SPB121 last month, I love it. It's definitely versatile, can be worn as a dress watch. Wouldn't recommend the calfskin strap if you want something a bit more "field watch-ish" (many like to go with the NAFTA band). I am a bit surprised that the Alpinist continues to get so much attention on this channel.

I purchased the Hamilton Murph during a local ADs summer sale with 25% off. Couldn’t pass up the deal.

Great watch!

My dad has been wearing it more often than myself and enjoys it.

Bought the Alpinist a few months ago and love it. I did immediately put it on a brown canvas with leather accents strap. Because I have a few plain field watches, I passed on the Hamilton.

As I tend to get lost in the woods frequently I chose the Alpinist (the golden SPB210 no less). Retained the gold toned deployant and substituted a soft brown suede strap. The Murph is a handsome watch, but falls a little short in personality. All that said, either choice should keep its wearer very happy.

The murph is an absolute stunner and strap monster. Ir reminds a lot of people to an affordable rolex explorer with its own personality and class

As someone who bought the Murph I have to say that I agree with pretty much everything said on here. One thing to consider is that the calmer dial compared to the Seiko can make the watch look a bit dull in low-light environment (indoors, mostly). The type of strap you use also determines if the face of the watch will pop or not.

I love both of these choices. I have owned the larger Murph in 42 but sold it due to it's size. I still have my green Seiko Alpinist and it's perfect. Very original styling, dial design. It's definitely an everyday watch favorite of mine.
