Food for thought from someone that works in an industry that uses lighting. (And) I' m not sure how effective these could be for plants, BUT LED manufacturers have been making these LED tubes for a while now that fit into the existing fluorescent wireways. So you don't have to pull everything out to change to an led set up, you just exchange the ballast, tubes and sockets with the corresponding parts, and the led tubes just use the existing center to center mounting that the old fluorescents used. Enabling you to experiment a little cheaper than you would than if you bought a complete system. Besides, the power supply and the light hood itself is really where all the money is at this point.
