Keep paving and over building Florida . Higher building codes do nothing to prevent flooding during Hurricanes .

When greedy developers are allowed to build where they should never have built, by corrupt county commissioners, and politicians. The little guys get hurt, again. Vote out all the greedy pricks.

Stop paving and building over every open piece of ground. The water has nowhere to go .

My sister, a Sarasotan, mentions some of the road blocks are due to collapse of the road itself after the insane rainfall this past week. More gaps in the road will be discovered as the waters recede.

Most of Florida - a unique ecosystem in the country - should have been left as national park. Pollutants and sewage will run from the flooded vehicles and homes into the ocean, killing more animals and seagrass. "Coastal wetlands act as nature's giant sponges, absorbing floods and wave energy from storms, improving property protection by up to 20 percent. One acre of wetlands can store as much as 1.5 million gallons of floodwater."

Meanwhile these folks who could care less are driving up insurance costs for everyone else - building in canyons full of brush, in wetlands, on barrier islands. All these bloated homes with no natural environment left. And they'll just build right back, the same way, and expect Federal tax dollars to do it.

It is ridiculous how one tropical storm/hurricane can do so much flooding.

The entire state of Florida should be considered a flood zone. The state is surrounded by water for the most part and there are so many lakes and rivers all over the place.

I blame this on local county governments they let developers build where they should have never built in low-lying land.... And they have overdeveloped Florida.... Remember we are only two feet above sea level... Florida used to be 1 giant swamp... Before the army corps of engineers came in and drained the land... Not every place should be buildable...

Just think we have 3 more months of rain and tropical systems. Probably gonna get worse. It's crazy.

I feel so bad for everyone that was flooded. We are just north of them in Hillsborough County and we escaped the major flooding. 🙏
