It isn’t kicker! It's horsemanship!

"What's flanking?"
"Bushido, but backwards."
"Oh... What's Bushido?"

Good way to tell when someone started playing
Flanking was still big when I started with 4th ed

“Whenever a creature with Flanking becomes blocked by a creature without Flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn”, multiple instances of Flanking trigger separately.
Only reason why I know is because I have a Pauper Sliver deck, the 1 mana Sidewinder Sliver. With Hunter Sliver, combining Flanking with Provoke can function like having a kill spell on a stick. (Whenever a creature with Provoke attacks, you may have target creature an opponent controls untap that creature and block the creature with Provoke if able)

I still have my Boros themed casual Flanking deck. I built the whole deck around the ability because multiple instances of Flanking stack. It was extremely annoying for people because if they blocked, their creature would most likely die before combat damage and if they didn't block, I'd just pump them with a quick instant for maximum damage

I love incorporating old, basically-obsolete mechanics into decks, particularly when playing younger, newer players. I had a Banding deck at one time that confused A LOT of people.

That's why going from Yu-Gi-Oh to MtG is so easy, we basically know how, not knowing what cards do, is the key

“Delirious laughter” Ok, without looking it up, describe how Delirium works.

Every time I see Spice8rack I have to look twice to verify it's still the same person

Flanking: whenever a creature without flanking blocks another creature with flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.

Another great video Professor!

Flanking means basically that "when a creature with flanking is blocked, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn"

If more than 1 creature attacking has flanking, each creatures ability triggers in turn.

Flanking, Banding, phasing, those bring back memories

Flanking is whenever a creature you control with flanking is blocked by a creature without flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1.

I bought a bunch of really old cards from a bulk bin recently, and some of them have banding. I can’t wait to spring that on my playgroup!

Me: jidar lets my Tormod the Desecrator be in Abzan, and he just sits there and watch

Kids these days...if flanking confused them, then things like Rampage and Phasing would absolutely blow their minds.

This is an easy one: Flanking does the opposite as Rampage, while blocked.

i believe flanking was introduced in the mirage set. a creature defending against a flanking attacking creature gets -1/-1 if i remember correctly
