Warren Buffett: Business School Makes You Worse At Investing

Warren Buffett has never been a big fan of business schools or MBAs in terms of their usefulness for stock and business investors, and in this video he expands more on this perspective, alongside his business partner Charlie Munger.

I sort of agree with Warren. The MBA is a degree meant for someone whose Bachelor's degree is not business-related, so that he has a better understanding of how to run a business, as he moves up in a business organization.

A person with an engineering degree, as he transitions from design work to management, probably needs more business coursework.

I know a number of lawyers who are brilliant legal minds, but they can't run a legal practice as a successful business. So, the JD should have some basic business classes.

I went to the best MBA program and it took me about 1 year to unlearn everything useless that was taught.

Like our traffic laws, academia tends to focus on things that can be easily measured. Investing often goes beyond the numbers. Can you measure integrity?

Its like in every competitive industry, if you are really good at it, you are definitely not teaching it, you are making money working on the industry.

Don't agree. Formal education has the purpose to shorten the learning time. In addition, it confers credibility, otherwise you would be considered a layman. It also may give you confidence and recognition from your peers. Higher education is never a waste of time.
