Hello again, Stuart, The first thing I did with my Gold Star 650 was to swap the stock shocks due to bad reviews about them being too soft and spongy. I wanted to give my machine that genuine period BSA look, so I bougfht a pair of Girling fully shrouded shocks that are intended for the old A7, A10, A50, A65 models, being genuine Girling, they are a quality product that have totally transformed the handling of my Gold Star. They also give my machine the classic BSA look that I wanted and they only cost £155.00 including delivery.

Morning Stewart. Another enjoyable vid sir. I must confess you are so right about Hagon. Before Christmas I called them regarding replacing my rear suspension for my 650 Super Meteor. The young sounding lady that I spoke to was very knowledgeable and helpful. I know which set I shall be ordering soon. Take care in the weather and happy safe cruising till next time 👍😊 ...

I put a pair of Hagon 2820s on my RE 650 GT. After a short bed-in, they were excellent. HOWEVER, just on the 2 years old mark, the paint finish started to corrode quite badly - this on Thailand roads so no road salt to contend with. Anyway, I contacted Hagon sales, asked how easy the shocks were to dismantle to repaint - I'd heard they were almost impossible (definitely not true). They asked me to send pics of the corrosion. In a very short time they got back to me. "We're sending you a new set of shocks. Can you get the spring off? (Yes was my answer) OK dampers only". Received in back-of-beyond Thailand 4 days later - this over the Christmas '24 period 23 > 27 December. Excellent service, excellent warranty - especially considering I wasn't looking for a warranty replacement but why refuse? I've used Hagons on many bikes over the years and am happy with every aspect of the company and products that I've experienced.

Hat's off to you Stu for carrying out this work on such a bitter day!! A great video as always from you despite this. Great you are feeling so much better now too mate 🙂 I've just bought a new bike to add to my Classic 500 and Himalayan 411. I was so very tempted by the BSA. I love the Gold Star 650 but in the end couldn't see past the Euro 5 regulations and the water cooling. This is an issue with me and not with the BSA though. Instead I've picked up a totally mint, Euro 4, very low mileage 2020 Interceptor 650 in chrome/black (similar in colour to your mule). I love it and the great thing about your videos like this one, is that they are relevant to many similar bikes 🙂

I fitted these to my Hunter 350 and they are a big improvement over the OEM shocks.

I agree with you about rear shocks getting softer over time and wonder why so many reviews I've read about the RE Bear shocks being too hard, don't take this into account. Also the Hagon shock preload adjuster being at the top of the unit should make the adjusting operation a lot easier.

I wish these were available in India at Indian prices (no import duty or high GST). Another nice Video Uncle Stu.

I've put the Hagon shorter one on my RE Interceptor last spring and boy it did make a big difference on the handling of the bike and I was able to get them from a dealer in Canada who get them directly from Hagon so it was a bit cheaper than having to pay them in English pound with the exange rate😊 keep the good work and happy new year to you and family!

I enjoy your videos, Stuart.
I think you may have fitted your shocks upside-down.Disregard the orientation of the silver backed HAGON sticker. The "HAGON" written on the alloy collar should be on the top, so you can read it.
The "c" spanner shock adjustment should be on the "bottom", like your old shock.

I likes the Fully enclosed i think that is what you want to fit on your bike.

Have used Hagon shocks and Mono shocks for decades on my bikes, I even ran a pair of Girlings in the 80's on a CB900F so concur Hagon are a welcome improved development without them being overpriced & overcomplicated. As Stuart points out the best solution is get the right spring rates for your rider weight, you can usually speak to or email Hagon direct, you will be pleasantly surprised how they will transform many of the poorly equipped & sometimes fancy OE Japanese & British bike suspension units 👍
