How Scotch Yoke Mechanism Works

preview_player
Показать описание
I just added sliding pin on crank wheel to adjust sliding motion as per requirement.
The Scotch yoke is a reciprocating motion mechanism, converting the linear motion of a slider into rotational motion, or vice versa. The piston or other reciprocating part is directly coupled to a sliding yoke with a slot that engages a pin on the rotating part.

Came here after seeing the Alfadan inline 4 engine. They say they have revolutionised the inline 4 by inventing a new crank shaft! Looks like this video got there first! Thanks for sharing.

40 years ago, I bought a used, and very small, punch press that utilizes a Scotch yoke mechanism. Still have it. Works great. Nice video!

Had to take a jig saw appart at school today and found this mechanism. It blew my mind, so clever. This is why i study engineering !!!

Thank you very much dear... I am teaching my students by using your videos in class... It will help me a lot to provide proper visualisation to my students..
Thank you very much.

Very nicely animated presentation of a scotch yoke and how the throw can be adjusted for length.👍
Very similar to the mechanism that drives the ram back and forth on my Alba metal shaper.

thank you. I understand the mechanism instantly

pretty slick, we call these devices linear actuators, your converting circular motion into a liner motion.

That's the system uses in older massey Ferguson hydraulics up to the model 1085 as far as I know I'm not sure what type the 699 uses maybe the same but it's very reliable system

G.E. has been using Scotch Yoke Compressor's since the early 70's, They no longer use them in their current Appliance's

This background music is amazing. Also unable to be found by 3 different apps. Any idea what the song is?

Would never do for high-torque machines. The wear on the adjustable spindle and the inside of the yoke would be prohibitive. It would wear uneven troughs at the top and bottom of the stroke that would seriously interfere with operation, particularly at any other setting.
