I wanted to see a beautiful gal fly fishing and learned how to do a DH! Sweet I've been doing it wrong for years yesterday I practiced in the yard didn't take me long, I was impressed with the distance and accuracy I could get with less effort then I used to use loading the rod. Today I went out and threw some obnoxiously large large bass flies and the DH helped me not only gain substantial distance but because I used less muscle I was able to fish longer! Thanks April can't wait to see your other vids.

Funny how you say you see so many people cast incorrectly. Newsflash: you're a terrible caster. Watch this video if you want to learn how to cast INCORRECTLY. Your pivot should be from your shoulder, not your elbow. Assuming you are loading the rod properly (the length of your casting stroke), when you pivot from your shoulder and keep your elbow locked, it is impossible to have a tailing loop. And you shouldn't have to double haul to cast under 60 feet. You simply need a longer stroke. Too many people cast with the same stroke for a 20 foot cast as they do for a 40 or 60 foot or longer cast, this is the fundamental flaw most people have. The hardest cast to make in fly fishing is the length of your leader.
