Testing the all new Line 6 Relay G10 wireless guitar system. How far does it reach and how well does it play? Good on bass? Latency? Dynamics? Tone?

More
Relay G10 features an extremely simple and intuitive design that makes it easy to rock. Just plug in the 1/4” transmitter, and the receiver will automatically select the best channel. G10 also makes switching instruments a breeze—the transmitter works with nearly all guitar types*. Plus, thanks to separate XLR and 1/4” outs, you get flexibility in your choice of outputs.

why would you put DONT BUY in the title when you say in the video its a great unit makes no sense

I've gigged with one of these for a year now and love it... mostly. I have no complaints with its performance. Plenty of range, no noticeable change in tone. You have to be aware of the sleep mode when you start playing. Play a couple of notes with the volume on before you start your next set after a break.
My only complaint is what you also mention in the video, the micro USB power. I have the unit mounted on my pedal board and after a few good bumps of the connector, it started going out.
I took it apart, got out my multimeter and found where the 5v power and ground were on the circuit board. I bought a LD1117V33 voltage regulator, built a simple voltage regulation circuit, glued it inside the box, drilled a hole and installed a 9v barrel connector. Now I can power it right off my pedal board.
I should probably do a video about how to do that since I'm sure others have had the same problem.

When does the "don't buy" part come in?

BTW, I have no horse in the race. I run a Shure GLX and couldn't be happier with the performance. Just thinking about maybe practice.

Well I bought the Line 6 G10 transmitter as my Yamaha THR 30II has a built in receiver...guess what
the battery dies after 1 hour no matter what. That was after 30 days and about 3 uses...Line 6 won't replace it, does not stock batteries so I'm sorry I bought it. Fortunately I have a Geraria transmitter and receiver which I bought on Amazon for 35.00 and it works just fine.

The USB wall wart included has a fast charge mode that will let it charge the transmitter very quickly when its battery gets low. It would likely draw too much current from standard pedalboard supply to easily pull this trick off.

I’ve been gigging with the G10s and the spider V240. I’ve gigged with every amp combo you can think of. For years I gigged with the spider jam 75watt and loved it. The spider V 240 is without a doubt the best amp I’ve ever played. If you do covers you can get every sound from every artist on the planet. I always get compliments on my sound. Run it through the PA and your sound will be amazing.

I just bought it a couples of months ago and it works great. Or worked great. One day it just died. Now im in the process of geting it replaced by a new one. Apparently the battery was flawed. We'll see what happens with the new one and hope it last at least a couple of year. BTW, does any knows how to replace the inner battery???

Love mine. I upgraded to the “S” which the base uses standard 9v effects pedal plugs. Wonderful.

The USB connector on the receiver base is very fragile. Always disconnect the cable before moving and protect the connector and cord when in use. Mine is pooched. I understand Line 6 has been pretty good about repairing this out of warranty. I just raised a support ticket today so I will see. Other than this weakness it's a great unit. I bought one to replace my G30.

One other thing to watch out for. If you leave it plugged into the base unit and the base unit is unpowered, it will drain the battery of the wireless unit.

Not just guitar or bass! Works great on my Yamaha YEV-104 electric violin. Very liberating. I did a review on my channel too ;-)

Mini-USB charging cable is fragile and when the connector goes bad - and it will - you have to send it back to the factory or else build your own charging circuit as described below. Battery loses ability to fully charge after about three years, mine now only lasts for one set then it's done. Otherwise, it's exactly as he says. If they had only put a decent 9V power connector on it, and a battery that could be replaced in the plugin, it would have been just about perfect. But unfortunately, falls short.

Does the receiver (box) need to be connected to the power supply ALWAYS ?? What if the stage does NOT have power supply ?

As it checks for the right frequency automatically will it have any issues if more than one band member uses it?

Hi guys I've been playing drums for 60 years but I bought this for my grandson and I know some some of YouTube's people were complaining about not being able to get the USB cord in the back of the charging station why fixed after my grandson I went and bought and magnetic USB 3 foot long is the cord you put the adapter in the back of the charging box and then you take your cord just touch it and automatically attaches to the charging box and if you should kick it if it's on the floor or you hit it with your hand and it won't break just thought I'd pass it on to you you can get them off of Amazon I bought 4 sets cuz I use a couple for phones best of luck guys just a little info for all the guitars out there from a drummer

I left the receiver plugged into my bass input. Left it over 2 weeks from a gig I played got to practice and my active bass battery hadn't drained? So I can leave it plugged in and it won't drain the battery?
