This just in… more talent from one of our youth volunteers!
Meet Charis Yoon and be amazed as she performs the Chopin Etudes Op. 10, No. 2 and No. 4.
Charis has volunteered with The Open Door’s (summer) children’s ministry for several years now. Charis is not only incredibly talented, as seen in these performances, but she is also kind and gentle with our children.
We selected these pieces to share on our YouTube channel because they were described by American music critic James Huneker (1857-2921) as “bubbling with life and spurts of flame.” We have seen our students come to life with the encouragement our teachers and staff provide. We have witnessed our students gain confidence as they learn how to speak the (English) language that unites them with the world around them.
We have also witnessed the devastating impact Covid-19 has had on our students. These last few months have been such a dark time, but the love and support of The Open Door familia has been a light...an ignited flame... amid that darkness.
