Drew Barrymore apologizes to writers

Drew Barrymore is apologizing to television and film writers over her decision to resume production on her talk show as members of the Writers Guild of America remain on strike. Barrymore’s show drew protest from the union after announcing they would resume production without WGA writers contributing. It is not the only talk show that has remained on air or resumed production amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes. SAG-AFTRA has said Barrymore is in compliance with her contract as host of the program and the production is not struck. Hours after posting her apology video, Barrymore seemingly removed it from her Instagram account. #cnn #news

She's grown up in Hollywood. It's a company town. I don’t believe she didn't understand the gravity of what she was doing.

“There’s nothing I can do”. Sure there is. Stop production, grab a sign and go support your effing Union brothers and sisters on the picket line!

She wasn't trying to hurt ANYONE. She was just being selfish.

Are you kidding? She got bitched out privately by her Hollywood friends before doing the show and she did it anyway. She's been in the business for decades and knows how the industry works.

It's not an apology if you plan to continue what you're doing.

Quite a performance, the apology from an actor

"It's not who I am" is the biggest gaslighting statement.

Never cross picket lines. It undermines us ALL!

Pure BS, nothing but damage control, she's not sorry. You don't get to do something you know is wrong and then apologize. Why do it to begin with? Because you don't care. It's the same with Ashton and Mila writing letters of recommendation for Danny Masterson because they thought the public wouldn't find out about it and then apologizing when the public finds out.

No excuse… you don’t have to be on the air. You should be supportive of the Unions.

In my union we would put in x amount of line time in order to receive strike pay. Of course folks like her don't have to worry about money. However, they should put a clause in their contract forcing ALL members to do line time. 🙏💓🇺🇸😡

I've appreciated Drew for a long time. This doesn't seem to be her usual MO, and Unions don't work unless all the workers stick together. I hope she backs off from this decision and admits it's a mistake, which we all make. Otherwise her illustrious career might take a hit.

HYPOCRITES! Most these writers & Hollywood stars always screaming.."BULLYING IS WRONG, DON'T BE A BULLY"...

In Australia, she’s classed as a SCAB.
A Strike breaker.

I hate when people say it wasn’t their intent. Impact is greater than intent. People shouldn’t ignore the hurt you’re causing them just because “you didn’t mean to.”
