I definitely would not have gotten it sharp before I tempered it let alone hardened it. Theres a reason why you leave your piece a little bit thing before heat treating. It can crack and warp if it's too thin

After the hardening that he did the spear point would shatter like glass if he dropped it on the floor. It needs to be tempered back to perhaps a robin egg blue. Take that hardness out so it will not break. Otherwise it is pretty good. I wish they would have shown the spear handle and the attachment of the head and how they did that part. Just sayin. :-)

They're too small. Should've studied the European boar spears (called "Saufeder") or the hollow Matagi hunting knives of the Japanese for comparison.

the spear head is too wide for hog hunting and can't probably penetrate a hog.

These guys are not smiths,  too many small things that they missed or did not do. At best this show is full of misinformation and those spears look and will perform horrible. If you are really interesting in learning a true craft there are much better videos than this. This was made for TV and just like many other made for TV things it is all bs or what looks "cool"

One more thing. If I was doing this I would keep a 44 Magnum with me. I never hunted hogs but I have seen pictures of the feral hogs. I would not want to just p#ss one off. But that is just me. :-(
