Art for a Safe and Healthy California—a benefit exhibition and auction presented by Jane Fonda, Gagosian, and Christie’s to support Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California—features a phenomenal curation of works generously donated by contemporary artists such as Charles Gaines, Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Joey Terrill, Jonas Wood, Christina Quarles, Kenny Scharf and Candida Höfer.

Following the launch event at Gagosian in Beverly Hills on April 9, a selection of works will be auctioned during Christie’s Spring Marquee Week, with a dedicated group of works in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale on May 17. Another group of works will be presented for sale in an exhibition at Gagosian, Beverly Hills, later this summer.

All proceeds from this sale will be donated by the contributing artists to the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California, a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to protecting Californians from the health risks of oil pollution by establishing safe setbacks from oil wells for homes, parks, schools, and playgrounds.

Thank goodness for Jane Fonda -- one celebrity who is making a real difference fighting the "bad" in corporate greed. She is so dedicated to helping the planet and its people. Her activisim is inspiring.

Nothing worse than a rich elitist preaching to the common people what they should do. Haven't we heard enough of these people.

Like living next to an oil "pumpjack" is somehow bad for your health? That's not how reality works.
