On February 19, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty held a news conference with Noah Williams, economist and CROWE director, who discussed the estimated costs of Medicaid expansion for Wisconsin. "If we look at...our estimate of the costs, adjusted for inflation, [it] comes out to over $1.1 billion per year. So, the total of $545 million that we would be getting from the federal government would then be shifted, [leading] to increased costs for private households of over $1.1 billion...we find that the cost to the state would roughly be $600 million per year," Williams said.
