The places you ride remind me of the "chat dumps" we used to ride on as kids. If you aren't from a mining area, you'd have no idea what that is. It's basically sand, but grittier I guess. In our area we had a HUGE lead mine that had been there long long before I was born. The chat is basically ground up rocks from the mine that they dumped, sometimes over square miles. Some of the dumps were hundreds of feet high. My favorite spot was what we called the sugar bowl. Picture a mountain of sand with a bowl cut out of the middle. It had to be over 200 ft high. So much good riding in that "sand". Unfortunately for us, the mining company had some lawsuits over the years for so called lead exposure and they covered most of the chat dumps with 4 and 5inch rock which makes it unsuitable for riding.
