I wrote this sketch and performed it for a couple of years (as "Barney's Gun Emporium and Bait Shop") and pitched it to Jean Doumanian in 1980 as an example of my work for employment as a writer on SNL. Never heard back from her but watched this on SNL in the green room of a comedy club two weeks later and smiled as the other acts turned to me and said, "That's your bit!"

The “Saturday Night Special” joke was corny but it cracked me up. “Spinning disco action” 😂
