The Flavian Amphitheatre, usually referred to as the Colosseum, is a historic amphitheatre that can be found in Rome, Italy. Despite extensive damage from earthquakes, fires, and theft throughout the years, the Colosseum continues to exist as a majestic representation of the Roman Empire. We'll look into what truly happened to the colosseum's missing half in this video. First off, just a third of the Colosseum still exists today. This explains why it appears to be in such bad shape. The Colosseum was constructed by the Romans from concrete and travertine stone, a type of limestone found only in central Italy.
The inside of the amphitheatre was initially affected; in 217 AD, fire largely damaged the higher wooden levels. By the time these wooden pieces were fastened in 320 AD, the interior of the structure was typically undermined. From the fourteenth to the nineteenth century, raw materials from the Colosseum were still being stolen. The amphitheatre's walls were cut off, and the interior's stone was removed, creating scars that are still visible today. It's vital to keep in mind that the Colosseum was never truly finished when discussing the missing portion of the monument. The Colosseum was initially designed to have a retractable roof that would have covered the entire seating area, despite the fact that it is unquestionably a remarkable work of engineering. Due to logistical and economical limitations, this capability was never fully utilised.
A portion of the Colosseum may have been lost due to the dismantling and reuse of various pieces over time for other construction projects. The Colosseum was also utilised as a stone quarry, which perhaps also did some harm.

Italy needs to rebuild brand new exact replica of the Collosseum. Could be used for sports and concerts and who knows what else, it would be so cool.

Random, unfocused, repetitive, and mostly way off the topic of why, specifically, half of it is missing.

What I would want to know is why modern civilizations throughout the world don't rebuild ancient ruins back to the way they looked when the ruins were complete? There's one thing to keep ancient relics looking "old", for Est alga and another to put back into place pieces of history so that future generations will be able to see, in person, what the ancient relic use to look like.
I get it, some will because of the financial cost, BUT with the future revenue that could be made by restoring the ancient relic(s), would make up for the restoration cost, in the long run. Besides, look at Egypt, they spent the MILLIONS of dollars to relocate a mountain with the 4 Egyptian Pharoah statues, including the interior carvings in the mountain, to a higher plateau just so it would get flooded over by the lake that was created due to a dam that they put in place. They didn't care about the cost of the relocation for this ancient relic. So when it comes to other ancient relics throughout the world, why doesn't those countries, like Italy/Rome, just rebuild the Colosseum back to how it looked in ancient times? SMH Who knows, maybe by restoring it, they will be able to make the Colosseum last another 2000 years?
