So, here’s something similar I do. Old Victorian women used to use a sort of hair glitter, parts of which was made out of glass or something, I don’t remember exactly what the video I learned it said, but you can achieve similar modernized results with LOOSE glitter/shimmer eyeshadow and a fluffy makeup brush to dust it on. I do this for dressy occasions especially when I wear my hair up. You can use some hairspray if you like to help keep it in place, but that’s up to you. I use a shimmery eyeshadow I bought at dollar tree, cheap but effective and so pretty! I like golds on my brunette hair, but you can use any color you like.

Alternative: Add mica powder to some jojoba or argan oil, spread into your hair as needed. Add varying amounts of mica powder to achieve desired results.

Edit: I tried this and you instead end up with something closer to hair paint. Maybe forgo the individual glitter speck look and highlight with the mica-oil mixture 🫡

Mix glitter with leave in conditioner or a hair oil serum and your hair will be glittery, but remember glitter will be on everything as your hair moves around. I see comments saying it will clog your drain, but hair clogs drains way worse and way more commonly. It’ll be fine to wash out the glitter in the shower.

Back in the day, I was a majorrette . We used aquanet hair spray, then sprinkled glitter in our hair & sprayed the hair spray once again to secure the glitter before a performance.The glitter stayed their all night. But it was a two person job & the 80s. We styled our hair before using the hair spray & of course, it was a poofy 80s hair too.
