Zadar, a Croatian town on the Dalmatian coast, is known for the Roman and Venetian ruins of its old peninsular city. Its ramparts contain several Venetian doors. Around the Roman Forum is the 11th-century Santa Maria Convent, which includes works of religious art dating back to the 8th century. The city is also home to the majestic 12th-century St. Anastasia Cathedral and the 9th-century, pre-Romanesque, Romanesque church of St. Donat.

Zadar, ville croate sur la côte dalmate, est connue pour les ruines romaines et vénitiennes de sa vieille ville péninsulaire. Ses remparts contiennent plusieurs portes vénitiennes. Autour du forum romain se trouve le couvent Sainte-Marie, qui date du XIe siècle et inclut des œuvres d'art religieuses remontant au VIIIe siècle. La ville comporte également la majestueuse cathédrale du XIIe siècle Sainte-Anastasie et l'église ronde du IXe siècle Saint-Donat, de style préroman.
