It actually depends. I once used to play games so badly like morning till midnight. But now I can only play 1 to 5 matches in War Thunder or play less than an hour in other games and sometimes I just stare at my PC screen wondering what I would do. I have 3000 hours in Dota 2, 2000 hours in War Thunder, 1000 hours in Hearts of Iron 4, 500 hours in Transport Fever 2, 400 hours in Cities Skylines and 1000 hours in Mir4. Playing any games you like will eventually wear you down to the point you no longer want to play games. Now I only watch movies, play a little and browse the internet in my PC.

This new battle pass season looks so uninteresting and bad that I’ve decided to take a break, play through those other games I picked up during the summer sale

the addiction fucked me up too badly, ive started degrading my life style for this game ive closed myself up from people i love and needd to care of, i sleep late, i talk shit to my father cuz hes "distracting" me while actually hes trying to spend time with me, i wake up early just to boot my PC up and play this game all day nonstop till its 1AM, i cant stop myself even if i want to or try forcing myself out of it, i grew more rude and unpleasant to be with, socially im fucked lost all speaking skills, just a slave deprived of free will, i can uninstall it, but i dont want my 5 years go to waste thats how most addicted WT player must be/feel maybe worse maybe better, im fucked.
i dont wish WT addiction or any sort of addictions to anybody no matter how fucked up they are, they dont deserve their lives to be ruined be enslaved, no one does.

As Old Guard for Warthunder, I've been playing... 11 years, and took one prolonged break when I got bad about it maybe halfway through that. It's not problematic. I'm a parent a maybe squeeze in a match or two a night time permitting.

I probably put about a hundred bucks a year into it, usually premium time and rarely a gimmicky premium if its on sale.

War thunder has a loop that is made to hook you, like any MMO. But having your RL sorted out will make you feel better hundredfold, and you can focus on just enjoying the game for hahah tank go brrr.

Recently started on spading all my low rank stuff I mostly skipped over way back when I started playing and have been having a blast tbf. Good vid on the topic EC.

Choosing to stop or take a break from War Thunder is arguably the hardest thing in life.

After almost 3-4 months without playing War Thunder, yesterday I got back to participate in the Flight of the Albatross Event.
In my 6th battle, due to Bad Server Connection, I was kicked out of the game while I was doing very well.
I was the 2nd player in my team even though up-tiered almost by all.
That was when I realised why I had left the game.

War thunder addiction is real, I'm addicted to war thunder, in the past 4 or so months i have uninstalled the game like 5 times and I keep installing it back bc there's no other game close enough to war thunder, no game offers the same amount of vehicles, features, lods, etc... War thunder is very unique and that's the problem, that's how you get addicted bc you can't find anything to replace war thunder with.

"Because they're not physically or mentally right when it comes to the rest of their lives"...
Damn. That one felt personal.

I‘m currently in a Full addiction spiral (I‘ve grinded the US Air Tree from Rank 1 to toptier in about a week) but that’s okay because my wife is currently on a mother-child cure for two weeks and I got placed on administrative leave for the next three months because I have stacked up far over 300 of hours overtime and I have still 70 days of residual leave left, which could end up in a hefty fine for my employer if our federal board of control should come in for an inspection (I‘m a Medic and an executive in the Company and we have very strong employment rights in my country).

I‘m planning on finishing the complete US Air Tech Tree until my wife and my daughter are back. Gotta use this forced holiday wisely.

I found that Drawing is a great alternative to War Thunder... it's fun and I don't think about if I have to research this and that...I just put my pencil down on the paper and just draw something I have in my imagination.

5:20 onward is very true.
Anything that makes you feel not in control, when you already don't feel in control in life, leads to anger/upset.
When you have anger issues especially.
You need to breath.

I have 6, 500 hours in war thunder. [Am playing right now]

I used to play almost 24/7 even before the pandemic due to some rough times both mentally and Financially. It's escapism.

Ever since i started gardening and trying to grow my own food, I've been feeling much better.

I can go weeks on end without worrying about and playing war thunder.

But i will go play this game from time to time thanks to a sudden need to play a vehicle i remember being fun and then getting off

I use video games, YouTube, and various activities to prevent my mind from stressing over minor matters, due to my anxiety. This helps me concentrate better on the more significant aspects of life.

Many people use video games to unwind, de-stress, or cool off after their day. The problem is when individuals use games to distract themselves from more significant issues that cannot be simply relaxed away. They choose not to acknowledge these larger issues, so when video games no longer serve as a distraction for "minor" problems, they don't understand why. They refuse to believe that there could be a larger issue beyond the game because they haven't accepted it as such. Therefore, they assume that the video game is failing to fulfill its role in helping them relax and have fun.

Every time they become stressed and agitated due to life's problems, and they turn to playing WT to destress, they end up more stressed by the game itself and attribute all their stress to the game.
This is why many struggle to quit gaming and get their lives in order; they haven't yet accepted that the game itself isn't the problem.
