l liked everyone's individual character arcs in the original, like Johnny's parental pressure, Ash's toxic relationship and Meena's stage fright. Hopefully this does the same.

Predictions for new characters:

1.Teenage wolf girl (TWG) will be your stereotypical spoiled brat who pursues her dreams of fame at the expense of others. Especially Pig Lady, as shown in the brief clips of them interacting. She will strong-arm her way into the main performer group to met the Washed out lion rock star (WOLRS) dude she idolizes. Once she sees Pig Lady hesitating in performing her stunts, TWG will push her out and take her role. However, she will be reinstated as TWG's partner, when the Pig Dancer Guy (PDG) is injured when he was accidentally slammed against the space rock replica.

Over the course of the film, TWG slowly mellows out after seeing how her actions affect Pig Lady. Once she befriends Pig Lady, she’ll help her overcome her fear of heights. TWG herself probably has some sort of secret loneliness/making true friends issues. I'm guessing that most of “friends” only associate with her for her father’s wealth and fame. Not helping matters is that her mogul father often ignores her in favor of work, and has become something of a daredevil in an attempt to get his attention. In return, Pig Lady teaches TWG the art of true friendship.

2.Washed out lion rock star (WOLRS) is your typical jaded and sullen reclusive old man with a tragic backstory. Obviously, given what is shown in the trailers, his wife passed away 15+ years ago. Whatever happened was related to music, and caused him to renounce the industry as a whole. This has turned him into broken and cynical shell of a man. Porcupine Girl (PG) initially tries to solicit his help, but WOLRS will aggressively blow her off. Probably something entailing literally shoving her out of his house and slamming the door in her face. As her group desperately needs his help, PG will continue to pursue him.

WOLRS’ personal issues will quickly become apparent, and PG somewhat switches her focus into helping him out. He is touched inside, but struggles to keep a rough facade. Slowly, they will form a bond. However, something happens to cause a plot mandated wedge between the two. PG returns to her group, feeling like a failure. When the performers are at their darkest hour, WOLRS has an off-screen change of heart, and returns to bail them out.

3.Lynx dance instructor (LDI) has turned to street performing, after her dreams of a professional dancer where dashed away by some sort of unfortunate life complications. Whatever the "unfortunate life complications" entailed, has left her cynical and burned out. Gorilla Dude (GD) was pushed into a dancing skit by the Koala Manager, despite him not having any talent for it. He attempts to take a few dancing lessons, but he flunks them all.

While wandering around the streets, feeling bummed by his failures, he stumbles across LDI performing in front of a crowd. Impressed and desperate, GD tries recruiting her to be his personal dancing instructor. Like the WORLS dude, LDI is initially reluctant and dismissive. She in turn is impressed by a demonstration of his singing abilities, and decides to teach him. Perhaps she secretly hopes that GD and his friends are the ticket to a second chance of achieving her dreams of professional dancing.

In the midst of their dancing lessons, the two slowly bond. I'm going to bet that there will be some at least vague romantic subtext shoehorned in their relationship. Whatever LDI and GD go through with it or not, could go either way. Although it's very common for works in all mediums to shove romantic subplots, subverting the "obligatory love story" seems to be more and more common these days.

Regardless, there's a good chance of a temporary fall out between LDI and GD, similar to WORLS and PG. If that does happen, GD probably figures out LDI's ulterior motives and feels exploited. In return, LDI will be enraged by GD's perceived ungratefulness. However, towards the film's climax and aforementioned darkest hour of the performers, GD realizes that he needs LDI's assistance. Again like WORLS, LDI has a change of heart and swoops in to help GD and the other performers.

All three seem very by the books, but if that’s a bad thing remains to be seen.

Don’t you just love it when the “trailer” tells you how the movie will end and also literally tells you what you should only learn by watching the movie and not from the trailer

I love how we start off with Bury a Friend being sung by... ok what is that is that a lemur?
I also love that there's a character who's a lynx. I don't think there's ever been an animated lynx in a professionally made movie.
