Great looking blades! I need a sand blaster....

I think people dilute to 50/50 to give more control when etching damascus; that's why I dilute. Lets me ease up on the pattern and etch in cycles (cleaning between cycles).

What’s best to use if you don’t have ferric acid? Would old coffee work?

Very well done 👍. Great tips for the acid etch, here no choice… 46% ferric chloride found. Thanks for your video.

I've found diluting the ferric chloride lets me do slower more controlled etches, which I find helpful in getting a super even finish, but that's about it.

Question about the acid bath. If you just wanted to darken the blade, would you just dip in the acid for 5 minutes and then rinse with windex? Leave it at that? Thanks in advance.

Jeremy! HI from NZ. Love your vids!
As a newbie to your craft, can you tell me approximately how many hours it takes you, from your wood-stock, thru all your processes and assembly, to the finished Wa handle?. You se3m to be so effic8ent!!
The few handles I have made following your excellant vids aren't really faithfull to the traditional Wa style, but I really love the unique and individual look that I can be proud of.
My problem is that they seem to consume so much time, that it becomes disheartening!
I aprpreciate that some of my problems stem from trying to be too creative, with most of them having up to 7 or 8 different components, as in Ebony, 1mm brass, 1mm G10, white cow-bone, NZ native wood for the main handle part, then maybe an end finish of G10, thin bone, and brass end cap.
I dont sell any of these, the are just to give to family and special friends. I don't really favour dropping to maybe 3 or 4 components.

Been watching your channel for a long time, so forgive me if you covered this somewhere, but what's a rough ballpark to order a fixed blade knife from you? Say like a 3.5-4" blade.

Do you have a link for the clear vinyl you use?

You should make 1 by 30 belt sander video again 😄

I replaced the block with a que tip and alligator clip for more precision when etching.

I used wd40 with ceramic medium and it got all gummed up to the point where I just threw it all away like literally clumped together. 🤣 what's the deal? Did you add anything else? Do you clean the stones after your done somehow?

Enjoying this little series mate. I have an unrelated question, a mate asked if I can sharpen some butter knives so they can cut steak. Is this ok ? 🤣
