The Beetle Barn Bus Get's Poppy's Patina

This week we are working on some local VW history. The Beetle Barn Bus. This bus was built by Warren Stephens (Founder of the Beetle Barn) in 1968 with a 1956 Palm Green Sand Green 11 window Ragtop, and a 1959 Mango Walk Through. Warren recently passed away, so it helped Bill make the final decision about what to do with this bus. It was logo'd and striped by another local Vegas legend Bob Spina. Too much history to be erased, so instead we decided to preserve it. Poppy's Patina to the rescue. Bill and I tackle the job of cleaning, degreasing, and coating this huge bus. Check it out and let me know what you think. #vwbus #vw #volkswagen #upgrade #preservation #patina #clearcoat #shiny

This got me emotional. Warren is my grandpa, and he was always so proud of this bus! Seeing you guys revamp this in a Quonset hut no less, like I’ve watched him work in so many times, made this transition a little more real for me.

I didn’t know he passed. I met him a couple times. RIP.

I love how George is pointing out the bits Bill missed.

You guys are awesome for doing this. Mad respect for being able to preserve those details when you probably could have gone all out with an ovehaul. Great work guys!

G'day,
What a cool bus. The finish looks great. Personally, I'd go satin, but that's just me.
Q. What size engine is in the bus.
So thanks for sharing the bus I've never seen it before. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

So cool! This maybe be off topic but I started my bus the other morning and after 2 tries of trying to turn over, it did nothing and I only hear 1 little click coming from the starter. I cleaned battery terminals and going to check out ground strap next & terminals on starter. If it's not any corroded terminals, would you assume it being the starter that went bad?
