Knowledge Sharing: Learning From Coastal States' Experiences With A Focus On Gender & Livelihood

Viewing disaster management through a gender lens, panellists at the Early Warning to Early Action convening, organised in November by Reliance Foundation and UN India in Bhubaneswar, highlighted the differences in experience of disasters among men and women.

Calling attention to the disaster impact on livelihoods, they also stressed the need for community-driven disaster response, long-term actions that support livelihood recovery, and a need-based shift from early to prior action to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
