I started out eligible to Telework 1 day a pay period, then 1 day per week.
Now I'm 100% remote at home, anywhere in the US. Life is good.

Never could telework, but it’s very nice having less traffic due to others teleworking.

At my job they just went back to 60% in the office schedule. So we are in 3 days and you can telework 2 days if you work 8s or 1 day if you work 10s (I think 9s too). Another sub agency right next door that's under the same agency is still on the 1 day in the office schedule because they are fighting more days back in the office. In a way I understand their point. When Covid hit they were told this is your new schedule, get used to it. Well the people got used to it and now you are shaking things up again. Many people said they will leave if they are made to come back more days which could mean better opportunities for those that don't mind coming back.

Great videos! I subscribed. Thanks for discussing such an important topic for so many of us. Also a big thanks for presenting this issue without adding your own bias on telework. I believe remote working (for remote eligible jobs) is the future. I genuinely don’t understand the war against WFH. This argument that Johnny isn’t working hard when he is at home can be said about when Johnny is in the office. If Johnny simply doesn’t care about getting his work done, he’s going to fool around and not be productive when he’s in the office too. Why punish the rest of us? I am much more productive from home and I am able to better focus and concentrate. My agency makes us send Log in/Log Off e-mails each morning and afternoon. Maybe that’s an idea for remote employees? Add some measures to make remote work more sustainable. But to outright get rid of remote is simply shortsighted and in many ways bitter. It’s also no doubt a generational struggle, younger employees want flexibility but some in the “old guard” are pushing back because “back in their day” you didn’t have the option for flexibility.

Great video on an important subject for a lot of us. Personally, remote would be my first option, but realistically hoping to get a hybrid/telework schedule after a few months to a year on the job. Especially since I would probably be a super commuter to a federal job until my wife retires in a few years and we could relocate.

Telework at least at my agency is dependent on the GS level the person is. Still have to report to the office during the mandatory office day. Having at least a situational agreement is helpful especially with terrible weather (snow).

I’m of the opinion that most of this work will go remote in the next few years. It’s cheaper to have an employee(s) temporarily report to a secured location, than to be paying for the office space yearly if they have to review classified info.
