In fact, when you add/subtract polynomials the degree of the resultant polynomial is lower or equal to the biggest degree:

deg(P+Q)<=max{deg(P), deg(Q)}

For exemple the sum of P(x)=x^2-1 and Q(x)=-x^2+x is (P+Q)(x)=x-1

Hey, sry that i have to correct you. When you say that subtraction keeps the higher degree, thats not always correct. Example. f(x) =3x^2 +5x (Degree 2) h(x)=3x^2 -10 (Degree 2) then you have Degree 1 in result.

Please don'T get me wrong, thats no hate. I love how you do your job and show that to us.
