omg this is so cringey. non-black people using nowadays using AAVE. they be like "omg SIssSss, my edges are snatched! waist is laid!" 'Your makeup is on 100!" "I'm going to get some chick-fil-a, PERIOD" "the barista gave me a free drink and I was shook!" My close friend and I be cracking up. I told her I'm going to start making up words and meanings and telling them to non black people. Like Darryl did in "The Office" lmao

I can’t help but laugh😭😭 it’s the fact that so many young non black teens sound like this and don’t realize how silly they look💀

I find it ironic how AAVE is so widely used within the
fandoms but so many people are claiming
to not know the origin of the slangs / language. I'm
not American, but I know certain words/ phrases
were created/ coined by black Americans, (of
course everyone isn't gonna know) but is low key
alarming to me how so many ppl are claiming they
didn't know. People are asking if it's wrong for them
to use it, totally missing the point of the video. It's
not about being non black and using the terms, it's
about using them incorrectly and mocking black
people. I've been on stan Twitter and ig and it's
obvious that most non black stans do not
speak aave on a regular basis because they be
saying some ish that makes zero sense.
I strongly believe that it's offensive that they consider
how we talk as "black English". Some of them make
it seem as if black people can't comprehend
standard English. I'm not saying they shouldn't
speak black slang in general but at least know how
to properly use it and don't just speak that way to
"look cool" or to portrait a stereotype of black people

As a black girl, I’m a bit confused on what the issue is. I do agree it sounds forced and unnatural, but what about it is exactly “wrong”? We always talk about how influential black culture is for the US, yet when our influence is displayed, we get upset? So do we want to be recognized for our contributions or be offended every time someone takes after us? Which one is it 😭

i’m not saying it’s a good thing but can i blame her? AAVE has been normalized into internet use by everyone, especially teens, it’s the internet and people we hang around who we get our language from so…

As a white girl that grew up around this “slang” you can seriously tell she’s forcing it.

its so sad that AAVE was so normalized and like a trend, i mean it’s good that people have become more aware but i remember in like 2018 when all my classmates talked like this to come across as cool

The fact that most kids talk like this and it’s because we were basically born on the “black internet.” Where we hear AAVE and use it because we don’t even know that it is AAVE. Like I use to use words that are considered AAVE and now that I’m educated about it I don’t. Disappointed but not surprised by this

I swear my teachers talk like this 24/7. And almost all of them are white. Today my history teacher was talking about the Transatlantic Slave trade and how it helped developed the north compared to the south, and she said, " They took " errbody "and just plopped them on this big farmland in the south to help cultivate tobacco and other cash crops(ion know, paraphrased because school sucks) and me and the only other black girl in my class (my school’s like 95% Hispanic, and like 2% black) looked at each other like "that wasn’t it Sis wrong timing"

I never really got why people try to say that you can't talk like this because of the color of your skin. Isn't that racist in itself? Talking like this has become so normal in social media that it's obviously going to influence people irl.

What's worse?
A. talking like this
B. trying to prevent other people from talking like this because only you can talk like this
