Группа крови (Blood Type) is the iconic fifth studio album by KINO that brought them mainstream success in the USSR. In the summer of 1986, Joanna Stingray gave the band a Portastudio she had just smuggled into Leningrad. In a year and a half, the guys dramatically changed their musical style and finished the album. Audio engineer Vishnya soon persuaded Tsoi to do the mixing at his home studio. "I somehow felt immediately that nothing better would be created in this studio ever," he later remembered. Then, Stingray offered to help the band release their new material in the US. Realizing that they would no longer deal with him, the engineer made a few copies of the tape, flew to Moscow, and handed them to his pals for bootlegging. When the guys found out about his deed, they had already become the Soviet Union's top band. Songs such as "Группа крови" (Blood Type), "Спокойная ночь" (Good Night), and a few others became huge hits. In 1989, the album was also released in the United States by Capitol Records and lauded by the famous American critic, Robert Christgau.

I discovered Kino in 2014 when I was listening "The voice of Russia", the overseas radio system of Russia and they did a special of Kino. I felt in love with them. They were my best company in my 2015 summer trip, it was amazing!

Greetings from Chile! 🇨🇱

This is the first album that I listened to over and over again in my early teenage years. Before I heard this I never cared much about what music I listened to. I'm going to be 20 in a few months and I'm so happy that I have finally been able to find a copy of this record that will be shipped to the UK to add to my collection.
I will always be grateful for Viktor Tsoi and Kino, the band that taught me how to love music!

I don’t know why but Kino really give me hope as well as the strength to overcome daily struggles. I discovered 1989 version of спокойная ночь while my mental health hit the lowest. All songs are so astonishing that I cannot tell what’s my favourite album. Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
