My old man rode round on the bus and played hockey, across Canada. He was a serious guy but he laughed his ass off when slap shot came out. He loved that movie, fights, broads booze, he was nuts.

Everything about this movie is perfect. The one thing people seem to praise last is the script…the screenplay by Nancy Dowd. It contains some of the funniest lines ever written.

Slap Shot is a movie like the TV show Trailer Park Boys. An honest juxtaposition of what was happening in North American culture at the time. Both the movie and TV series hold genuine cultural significance as time goes on.
