Once I got past the initial scare, I was like "this is just a floating potato with a derpy face stretched onto it, what was I scared of?" But then I remembered the unholy ambiance preceeding it. The jumpscare is just so that the ambiance has something to build up to.

I like how if you compare the God sequence (and the entire game by a wider definition) to the Mulholland Drive diner scene, the setup for the final jumpscare feels very similar.
