It’s called a fire break. Anyone who has ever plowed a field he has intentionally burned knows of these. One reason you see massive disks setting idle in planted fields. Country people will survive.

Actually, he disked the field, not mow it. If mowed, the cut grass would still have burned, and fire continue to spread. He used the right implement for the job.

Proud to be rural Thx to neighboring farmers & ranchers from Oklahoma & Texas, I watched my friend's home, barns & cattle saved in the middle of 2400 acres w/40 to 60 mile an hour winds saved. These people risked their equipment and lives.❤
