What in the World is a Presbyterian Lesson 1 Basic Beliefs

My name is John Judson and i welcome to this series about what in the world is a Presbyterian. These videos are intended to offer brief and informative introductions to the beliefs and governance of Presbyterians. These videos are based on both general Presbyterian beliefs and governance, as well as those of Presbyterian Church USA. I have been a Presbyterian Church USA pastor for the past 37 years and hope that these videos can assist those who are curious about Presbyterians and Presbyterians (especially those being trained as elders and deacons) who want to know more about our beliefs and governance.

What presbyterian church do you belong sir? I heard there are several types of presbyterian church. Evangelical, Liberal and Orthodox.

What presbyterian church can you recommend me to join here in the Philippines? Do you know a presbyterian church here in the Philippines? There is one Presbyterian church founded by the Koreans but I don't trust Koreans because they had created a lot of churches here in the Philippines that does not align with the teachings in the Bible.

if this the basic defintion of Presbyterian. You need a new definition.
i also submit that you choose a shorter and less complex word to describe your religion

i grew up Serbian Orthodox
We do not follow the whole Trinity thing, We just don't, it's not even a debate you can participate in,
My life proves that this is a fact and every other serbian orthodox person that i have encountered

No..
We believe in god
We believe in christ
there is THE FATHER
there is THE SON
there is THE HOLY SPIRIT

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME ENTITY
that is not what we are taught as kids
we are taught, god is one thing
We are taught jesus was completely separate

So i won't speak for other religions, but for SERBIAN ORTHODOX specifically, Yeah, we don't do the trinity thing

we dont' have a
GOD the father (WELL, ACTUALLY WE HAVE THIS ONE)
GOD The Son (No, we don't have that)
GOD The Holy spirit (Nope, don't have that either)


When we cross ourselves it goes like this

U IME OCA (In the name of the Father)
I SINA (AND the son)
I SVETOGA DUHA (AND the holy ghost, or you can mean Holy spirit)
AMIN (Amen)

Notice we have an AND (I)
TO US.. This clearly denotes... This AND this AND this AND THOSE THINGS ARE SEPARATE FROM EACH OTHER.
when the word "I" Is used, it's a separation by it's liguistic nature.
we don't do the trinity

I realize this is a video JUST STATING WHAT YOU BELIEVE and whether that was god or the jolly green giant, it's irrelevant, it's what you believe, Nor am i trying to change it.

But here a few OBVIOUS Issues that i see
had you said your faith was based on
GRACE
FAITH
SCRIPTURE
CHRIST
that would be ok

But you put the word "ALONE" behind each,
You can't do that, Because the fact there is more than 1 thing nullifies that it's alone

Secondly, God didn't raise christ for 2 reasons
1. Christ didn't die, His body did
2. Christ is capable of raising himself
the story goes
Jesus was crucified AND 3 day later HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD.
This is to imply that HE DID THE MIRACLE, not god

Jesus and god share the same power as well, so there would be no need for god to raise jesus.

another thing i want to point out is
You said THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO OR SAY that can cause us to be saved
I AGREE WITH YOU.
and yet, so many christians run around saying.. WE ARE SAVED LOL.... it's funny isn't it

but here is a problem with what you said
ALONE
You literally just said, there is NOTHING WE CAN DO to cause us to be saved
but.. WE CAN DO FAITH
so.. there's another issue

Now Scripture alone
HERE IS A BIG ISSUE

well.. the bible isn't god's word, this is absolutely the easiest thing in the world to prove,

This is on the same level as when you said, Orthodox believe in trinity.
and i said Serbian Orthodox do not
it is SO FUNDAMENTALLY TRUE that you can try to debate it, of course your opinion is respected,
but if you disagree, you are wrong

Just like the bible, if you think it's god's word, you are wrong.

NOTE : this has nothing to do with god's actual word, or god or christ or religion or your belief,
it's just one simple thing
THAT IS NOT GOD'S WORD,
that's all i'm saying

so... Following it is to follow a word that is not god's word
that is therefore a sin against god
that also will then in turn not get you into heaven

FAITH ALONE gets you into heaven by GRACE

so you then don't need to read the bible

but if you're now saying that
SCRIPTURE ALONE means you need to read it
YOU GUYS NEED TO REALLY LOOK AT YOUR BOOK, Because then.. The religion is basically saying to the person
IF YOU ARE PRESBYTERIAN YOU MUST READ AND FOLLOW THIS BOOK THAT WILL GET YOU SENT TO HELL

That now makes the religion have problems
