Client had access to an old railway sleeper and wanted some legs creating to turn it into a rustic garden bench.

Follow to see the various steps to building a pair of legs to form the base for their rustic railway sleeper garden bench.

Part 2 of this project is to create the uprights with a through mortice. The tenons of the stretchers made in part 1 will pass through these mortices creating a cradle for the sleeper to rest on.

First step was to cut down the four uprights to size, using the Makita LS1019L mitre saw.

Then mark out the mortice.

Four holes were then drilled in the corners and the jig saw used to remove as much waste as possible.
