The fact that they gave Pizzolato's messy last attempt back to him but took away Toma's last snatch is absurd.

The press out rule no longer functions, it cannot be judged consistently and needs to be tossed asap.

I have no problem the judges greenlighting Nino's 3rd attempt (which is a great Split push press) But the INCONSISTENCY is just unfair to other weightlifers.

Hilarious that you just jumped over how Toma was robbed. The lift that Pizzolatto got Silver for was a mess compared to the "press-out" that Toma did.
Not to mention Reeves almost falling off of the platform and flailing her elbows lifting the exact same weight as Toma, getting a green light. This sport is corrupt to the bone.
Why even have judges if the commision can just come in and say: no, all 3 of you are wrong.

Then today, in men's 102, the Korean athlete also failed in his second attempt. Last night, in men's 89, the Italian's rubbish move was re-adjusted and was successful. Is this because the bank card showed that the transfer was successful?

that's the whole point the INCONSISTENCY in judging, the whole rule makes no sense at all, just makes new ppl find the sport more confusing, anyone watching WL for the first time in olympics wd be dumbfounded on how come the lift is not given when it went from floor to overhead.

Easy way to deal with these controversies. Ditch the press out rule. Its not like it makes the lift easier. No one does it in purpose. If anything it makes the lift harder. However, there are more inconsistencies between nations that this. PED testing.

one of Liu Huanhua's clean and jerks was red lighted due to press out. They pan to a couple Chinese fans in the audience and they are cheering at first and then they looked so confused as to why it didn't count. The sport is very simple, can you get the weight overhead or not. Yenny Alvarez was also robbed of a total and possible medal

Yeah... I was happy for Nino since bombing out really sucks... as a Kuo fan, her first C&J attempt should be a good lift. Her pressout was not as obvious as Nino's. Surprised for Toma, great athlete like Shi Zhiyong during these games

Press out for elbow twitches is lame. 10deg flexion or less, let it go

I question the point of even having judges when the jury can overturn their decisions even in the case of 3 reds (or in some cases 3 whites like with Tank’s 192 kilo snatch getting overturned at the World Cup). I prefer the way powerlifting does it where a challenge card can’t be used if a lift gets 3 reds, but rather only when it’s a 2 red-1 white challenge or a 1 red-2 white challenge (where an opposing country can make the challenge; I believe the opposing country also has to pay a fee in order to initiate the challenge). If a challenge can be made even if the judges give 3 reds, I feel like that’s too much power in the jury’s favor. That’s just my perspective however.

Either way, happy Nino gets a medal, but disappointed in the way it was rewarded. The inconsistency in judging on the judge’s and jury’s end eventually has to be addressed at some point (along with the laundry lists of other problems the sport has), otherwise it will be constantly on the fringe of being voted out of the games.

Correction: Karlos is not the first athlete to get a World Record on this Olymics for weightlifting. That would be Luo Shigang of the 59kg class, who had snatch/C&J and a total world record days before the 89kg men's session happened.

For a sport that is so purist and spent a lot of years doing that, I doubt they're going to start letting athletes consistently press out. It's ugly as hell, dangerous as hell, and weightlifters won't like it one bit. The snatch and clean and jerk are beautiful lifts because of the precision and the strict adherence to those specific rules. Change the rules and watch the sport get butchered. They need to be stricter... those clear no lifts should be red lighted.

To be honest, as more and more I get into this sport, the less and less respect I have for it. The inconsistency just makes it unfair.

Does anyone even know why the press out isn't allowed? Got the fucking weights over your head and stilled? Good.

I think it was the right decision even though it wasn't fair. Pizzolato's both red lighted lifts were amazing. There were so many great lifts red lighted. There's already so many bombed lifts and even no totals that further pushing the no lifts goes over the edge. Part of it is many lifters only wanting the medal and not caring about anything else of course. I understand that people don't go to the Olympics to show up and show their best and maybe return the next time, but it does not make a great spectator experience particularly in weightlifting unfortunately. We would obviously want to see almost everyone have clean 6 lifts and the best result decide the game, with only an occasional mistake failing the lift, but I admit that's not realistic in the context.

And don't get me wrong, I think it should be fair to everyone, but I'm glad to see at least some amazing lifts not going to no lift. The rule itself is the problem so I'm kind of happy when I see any lift pass that should be in strict interpretation of the rule a no lift. Stupid high injury rates too.

On another side, watched Sika Strength's guys' vlog about the event and they claimed that the atmosphere in the hall during the review was so close to riot with people constantly booing and whatnot, that there was huge pressure on the judges (which might be a totally wrong way to make a decision, but understandable).

복잡하고 까다로운 규정은, 추후 불공정한 판정의 시작이 됩니다.
이번 올림픽 역도는 아쉬운 점이 많습니다.

The answer is probably DEI. They have hired people based on their looks or appearance rather than their merits, skills and experience.
At least that is my conclusion based on how much activism this Olympics have been plagued with.
