We solve a literal equation just like any other equation. When we solve for a variable we need to isolate the variable meaning we need to undo the operations that are being applied to the variable. Make sure you apply the inverse operations to both sides of the equation by the properties of equality. When you have solved the equation you will have solve for a given variable in terms of another variable. y = 2/3x -12 ,for x
