Scharnberg Strauss Valve Radio

Another radio video. This is my Scharnberg Strauss MW/SW valve radio which I estimate is from the late 1930's or early 1940's. I think this due to the large octal valves with the grid connection on the top cap, as opposed to the plate, and the speaker that has an electro-magnet.

I know little about Scharnberg Strauss other than these radios are from Adelaide, South Australia. Any information would be welcome.

As this video was made totally off-the-cuff, there is a verbal slip where I said "drain capacitor" where it should have been "drain resistor".

Gudday mate, I just bought a Scharnberg Strauss model 41 from a deceased estate, repaired the tuner string and it works perfectly. Like yours, the wiring under the chasis is a complete dogs breakfast so I suspect that's perfectly normal. Thanks for posting your vid. Chook
