With this scene alone Michael Keaton should have won the Oscar!

..."This play cost me everything"

Honest and raw energy.

Should have won the Oscar.

This scene is so good because the dialogue sounds like he’s making it up on the fly. It doesn’t sound like a traditional monologue, he stumbles and uses some phrases for a lack of a better word. It seems so real

I love the atmosphere and sound design in this movie. Case in point: When Riggan throws the martini glass and it shatters, you can hear the rest of the people in the restaurant gasp and go silent, their attention obviously now turned towards him. Then a few seconds later, they start to gradually resume their conversations.
I don't know if that was part of the initial shot or if it was added later, but that sort of attention to detail just impresses me greatly.

When people critize something without even watching it.

they disgust me

I love how his whole rant is about the futility of labels and then she responds by dismissively labeling him as a celebrity.

I've never felt so connected with characters than in this movie. Thank god I live in a world where somebody has the guts to make a film like this.

This scene honestly made me laugh more than any other in this movie because of the brutal honesty on display. It was so refreshing to see Keaton expose the critic for who she was, while also calling out the many similar critics we have today on their methods of "reviewing" art, particularly the movies.

Easily the best movie I have see in years with some of the best performances, particularly Keaton. He is beyond description, in fact the entire movie is. It reminded me of the first time I saw Citizen Kane.

"This play cost me everything." You can feel the suffering he's been through all that time. Brilliant acting from Keaton, Excelent direction from Iñárritu and such a smart screenplay

I love how he leaves the Carver note behind. Like the past doesn't even matter anymore. All that matters is the play. Fucking brilliant.
