Improving patient lives - MQ Health’s Lymphoedema ALERT Program

Anna was heartbroken when 5 years after surgery and radiation to lymph glands in her pelvis she developed a swollen left leg known as lymphoedema. It affected her appearance, the way she dressed and her ability to complete daily activities and her self-esteem. Her leg became a daily reminder of her extensive cancer treatment and something she could not hide. After hearing about the internationally recognised Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment (ALERT) centre at MQ Health, Anna received multidisciplinary care , expert surgery and hope. ALERT is achieving MQ Health's passion for patient-centred care.
